Highland Capital Management is Under the Command of James Dondero

James Dondero currently leads Highland Capital Management as president as well as leading as CFA and CMA. James Dondero also helped establish the capital management firm. Dondero completed more than three decades in the financial equity and credit markets. Dondero has become very experienced and has prioritized investments involving high-yield markets and investing in distressed companies. Highland Capital Management became known in the market in 1993, by taking the lead of the Collateralized Loan Obligation market, and developed and created solutions for institutions and global investors in retail that were in need of credit. Highland Capital Management features many different products for their clients, which have won awards. The firm offers CLOs, hedge funds, institutional separate accounts, mutual funds, private equity funds, ETFs, REITs and many other products to their clients.

Before James Dondero accepted the position of president at Highland Capital Management, he took part in establishing the GIC subsidiary of Protective Life. In 1989 James Dondero took on the position of Chief Investment Officer at Protective Life. Dondero was at Protective Life until 1993, and he was responsible for producing over U$2 billion. Prior to working at Protective Live, James Dondero produced extremely positive results for American Express in the position of Corporate Bond Analyst as well as a Portfolio Manager between 1985 and 1989. Dondero initiated his career in the financial market even before his four years working at American Express when in 1984, he worked for a year at Morgan Guaranty as an analyst.

James Dondero has earned several certifications that are of great value the financial market. Dondero is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). James Dondero earned his degree at the McIntire School of Commerce with dual majors in Accounting and Finance. He also earned another degree from the University of Virginia, where he graduated with the highest honors (Beta Gamma Sigma, Beta Alpha Psi).

James Dondero is a board member at MGM Studios and also at American Banknote. Dondero currently the Chairman of NextBank, CCS Medial and at Cornerstone Healthcare as well.
