Menopause marks the end of every woman’s reproductive years. It normally happens when a woman ceases to have her menstrual cycle for at least a year. That usually happens as they age and for some, it starts early like during their mid-forties, and for others, it happens during their mid-fifties. It all depends on every individual woman; regardless of this, the average age is 51.

Nonetheless, some women have very little information about what’s happening to their bodies. That is because every woman is unique and their menopause experience differs from the rest. However, genetics, chemotherapy, alcoholism, and smoking play a huge role in the early onset of menopause. However, almost all women experience vaginal dryness, hot flashes and they gain weight during this period.

Before the onset of menopause, the women’s body will experience perimenopause. During this time, the production of hormones by the ovaries will begin to reduce. That is when some of the women start experiencing mild symptoms of menopause. Although it has to occur in every woman’s body, symptoms of menopause can be countered by;

  • Doing regular exercises
  • Losing weight
  • Avoiding some situations that trigger hot flashes
  • Avoiding alcohol, drugs and illicit drugs
  • Eating healthy
  • Dressing well to avoid hot flashes

Dr. David Samadi Clarifies Issues About Menopause

     Dr. David Samadi states that every woman will go through a transition in life. Hence she will have to go through menopause too. Menopause refers to a stage when a woman does not have the menstrual cycle for a year. This is a normal condition as all women will be experiencing this stage as they age. This also marks the ending of her reproductive years.

Not all women will be aware of what happens and how this change is going to affect her.

Besides, the encounter of every woman with this phase of her life is going to be unique. There are some who may have to face minor symptoms, while others may have to experience hot flashes, besides weight gain, and even vaginal dryness.

Dr. David Samadi states that all women must know certain things before entering into this new chapter in their life. This will help them to make this transition easy and smooth.

It is not easy to know the age when a woman will go through menopause. This is because all women are different. Typically women stop having periods when they are between the age of 45 and 55. Hence the average age when women have menopause is 51.

But menopause can start many years before. In fact, a woman may not even notice these changes. These changes may occur in some women when they are in their early forties, while in others these take place when they are in their mid or even late fifties.

The age when a woman goes through menopause is often determined by her genetics. Most women will go through this phase when they are around the same age as of their mother or even sisters. There are many other factors that also play a role here. These include smoking and chemotherapy. These can accelerate the ovarian decline and lead to an early menopause.

Dr. David Samadi also clarifies how perimenopause is different from menopause. This is because perimenopause occurs just before menopause happens. After this, a woman’s body starts the process of menopause. This means that the decline of production of hormones from the ovaries has begun.

Some women may experience hot flashes during this stage. Or else they may notice an irregularity in their menstrual cycle. Once there is no menstrual cycle for 12 consecutive months, it means that she has entered menopause.

The common symptoms of menopause include hot flashes. These can happen at any time of the day or night. It is a sudden feeling of heat. In addition, there may be muscle and joint pain too besides mood swings.
